Nina Šenk (*1982) graduated (in 2005) in composition from the Music Academy in Ljubljana under Prof. Pavel Mihelčič. She studied (postgraduate studies) at Hochschule für Musik Carl Maria von Weber in Dresden under Prof. Lothar Voigtländer from 2005 - 2007 and in Münich at Hochschule für Theater und Musik under Prof. Matthias Pintscher (2007 - 2008). In August 2004 her Violin concerto was performed and awarded first prize at the festival of Young Euro Classic with the Music Academy orchestra, conductor George Pehlivanian and soloist Anja Bukovec. In December 2004 she received the Prešeren award of Music Academy Ljubljana for the Violin concerto. In Mai 2008 she was awarded first prize at the festival Weimarer Frühjahrstage in the chamber music competition for her piece Movimento fluido for flute, violoncello and piano. Since 2004 many commissions and performances in important festivals in Slovenia, Germany (Rheinsberg, Weimarer Frühjahrstage, Zepernicker Randspiele, Young Euro Classic, Kasseler Musiktage, Heidelberger Frühling…) and around the world. In the Sommer of 2006 and 2007, her Hymn Navitas (commissioned by the festival Young Euro Classic) was performed in more than 40 concerts in Berlin, Hamburg and China. In 2008/2009 and 2009/2010 she has been invited as composer in residence at Staatstheater Cottbus (Germany). For this occasion she wrote the Violin concerto No.2 (commissioned by Staatstheater Cottbus), first performance in February 2009 with the conductor Evan Christ and violinist Anja Bukovec. |
